Troia Golf Course is located in the heart of the Troia Peninsula. It can be accessed by road (132km from Lisbon airport) or via a ferry from Setubal (46km from Lisbon airport).
The Golf Course lies on a long fat and sandy stretch of land across the Sado Estuary, which separates the Setubal lagoon from the Atlantic Ocean. In this scenic location, you will enjoy both stunning sea-views and views of the Arrabida mountain.
This Links Course is only moderately challenging and is perfect for improving your technique. The greens are narrow and always well protected, sometimes by huge sandy bunkers – Although when at the tee, the fairways seem to be wide and do not show many signs of danger. The principle obstacle of Troia Golf Course is sand which borders the whole Course, where pine trees and wild plants are also found in abundance.
Robert Trent Jones Senior selected hole 3 as one of the best he has ever designed. A Par 4 that fits perfectly in the landscape with a magnificent sea view – he included it in his ideal 18 hole Golf Course. Hole 18 is also worth a mention; a Par 5 left dogleg, with an elevated green and protected by 3 front bunkers.
The Clubhouse was built in 2008 by the architect João Paciência, it offers a cosy space in a modern style with ample terraces. The straight lines of the building, broken by a double height glass entrance and large windows facing South and West, overlooking the Golf Course ensure a welcoming atmosphere.
The Troia Golf Course opened in 1980 and was designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior.
