The San Roque Golf New Course is located in San Roque, near Sotogrande.
Formerly the summer residence of the Domecq sherry family, The San Roque Club sits on a most enviable backdrop surrounded by lush hills and historic Cork Oak woods.
The New course depicts a Links Course in many holes. The designs, by the renowned American course designer Perry Dye, incorporate the contours of the San Roque hills, giving golfers wonderful views to the Guadalquitón River and the Mediterranean Sea beyond.
The idea was to create a Course that is a challenge for scratch and low handicap golfers but that is also possible for higher handicap players to enjoy and each hole has five different tee positions and wide fairways. These fairways are designed to reward canny tactics and skilful drive placement. Water hazards guard four of the greens, also defended by more than a hundred strategic bunkers, which lie in wait for wayward or ambitious drivers.
Surrounded by the plentiful growth of mature cork oaks, the San Roque New Course is a pleasure to play.
The New Course opened in 2003 and was designed by Perry Dye and Severiano Ballesteros.
